All about the Festival

THE SECOND ANNUAL ST ALBANS FOOD AND DRINK FESTIVAL

This summer will see the return of the St Albans Food and Drink Festival.
Once again there will be a fantastic fortnight-long programme of events celebrating everything that’s excellent about the City and District’s food scene.

The Food and Drink Festival will form an integral part of the already established St Albans Festival, and both events will culminate in an outdoor weekend street celebration on the 4th and 5th July on St Peters Street.

The Festival gives St Albans the chance to show off its wares to the nation! The fantastic array of restaurants, pubs, cafes, bars and talent, will all be showcased during the Festival to residents, visitors and the media alike.  From the newest talent to hit St Albans to the oldest pub in the UK, every restaurant, bar, pub, chef, deli, producer and even aspiring cook is invited to take part in St Albans Food and Drink Festival

WHAT IS THE ST ALBANS FOOD AND DRINK FESTIVAL?

Following  the success of the first SAFDF, the vision for  2009 and onwards is to create an even more diverse, high profile and exciting programme of food and drink events, to really showcase what the City has to offer. The idea is that the City becomes a hive of activity over the period, both within the food and drink venues and on the streets – potential new customers, visitors and foodies will be spoilt for choice as exciting and innovative events take place every day throughout the Festival. The aim is to increase the quality and profile of the Festival and in turn the benefits for the local hospitality industry.

St Albans City and District Council have once again commissioned experienced events organisation ‘Taste of the North West’ to deliver and manage the project. ‘Taste of the North West’ is the team behind the nationally acclaimed Manchester Food and Drink Festival (‘Britain’s best urban food and drink festival’, The Guardian.) which is now in its 12th year. They are a leading events and Festival development organisation, specialising in food and drink.
